On Monday, February 4, after we returned from Big Sky, Montana, we received the last pieces of paperwork we needed to complete our Dossier! I took it to FedEx and sent it with a little trepidation. Did I forget anything? Is this really happening? Do we really want to go through with this? Probably a little too late for that last question, but I do find myself thinking that occasionally.
Anyway, now we are in the waiting phase. What we are waiting on:
1. Our social worker to write up our home study
2. Citizenship and Immigration Services (part of the Department of Homeland Security) to send an appointment for fingerprinting -- we already got one appointment, but it was during our vacation so we had to reschedule.
3. After our fingerprinting, we will be waiting for our "favorable determination letter," which is permission from CIS to bring the child home
4. Our referral
5. Travel
So the big thing to pray for us about is PATIENCE!!! And we all know that is not my biggest strength. I am praying that I will trust in the Lord's timing, since it is perfect. Besides, there's nothing I can DO to make it go any faster.
Just so you know, we will not be allowed to post any information about our baby until he is back home in the States. Under Ethiopian law, he is not officially ours until that time and publishing any information about him is against the law and could hinder our adoption.
